Samsung has been going all 2004 on us lately, launching a range of flip phones overseas. Looks like Samsung is serious about releasing luxury clamshell-type dual-screen smartphones as they have released another one but this time sporting a Snapdragon 800 CPU – the Samsung W2014.
The W2014 is the fastest Samsung flip phone (and possibly the fastest flip phone, in general), with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood, along with 2GB RAM, 32GB internal memory (with microSD card slot), 13 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, 1900mAh battery and Android 4.3.
As with a lot of devices in the Chinese market, the W2014 will ship with dual-SIM card capabilities and will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box. It’s just a shame Samsung couldn’t use a better screen. The 3.7-inch display has a resolution of 800×480 pixels, which is pretty paltry in this day and age.
No price or launch date has been announced so far but be certain that it’s not going to be cheap. Would you buy a flip phone nowadays? Crazier things have happened. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
